Two people that continually inspire us, playing under the banner of a record label that has directly shaped the way in which we operate and whose influence on the wider dance music scene can be tracked from it’s inception to current day.
PEVERELIST
Peverelist’s sharp, ear-catching style as a DJ and producer has placed him at the vanguard of forward-thinking club music.
His unique take on the soundsystem tradition draws on techno, jungle, dub, grime and garage in pursuit of a sound that’s uplifting and innovative.
From his early releases and first label Punch Drunk through to the establishment of Livity Sound in 2011, Pev’s helped represent Bristol’s ever-evolving independent electronic music scene internationally. More than a decade in, Livity Sound now stands as one of the key global benchmarks for a hybridised dance music which draws on inventive approaches to rhythm and melody.
Through successive albums and EPs Pev’s developed a singular production style which balances delicacy and spaciousness with maximum presence, while his DJing teases the edge between horizon-expanding new music and a keen instinct for what makes people move. If there is such a thing as a ‘Livity’ sound, it stems from this artistic approach.
Unbound by genre, exploring percussive patterns and holding true to the fundamental principles of great soundsystem music, Pev’s trajectory continues to bring us untold surprises from the cutting edge.
MI-EL
If you have so much as a little finger on the pulse of south London’s unfuckwithable club scene, chances are mi-el needs absolutely no introduction.
Emerging as co-booker and the brains behind the reliably incredible design of south Bermondsey institution Venue MOT, mi-el’s impeccable sonic and aesthetic tastes have been instrumental in setting the tone throughout the pandemic and post-plague celebrations. All these following stints in Leeds, where she had her first radio show on Sable Radio, and Leipzig, where she fell in with the Music Of Color collective, playing on Radio Blau, at the Institut fuer Zukunft, and at various queer and BIPOC squat collectives across the city.
Following a host of exceptional sessions at Panorama Bar, Boiler Room, Keep Hush and HÖR Berlin, mi-el has joined the roster of incredible selectors on NTS Radio with her new monthly show 'Pulling Threads'.
Having recently released her first music, the upward trajectory continues unabated.
LEWIS LOWE
As co-owner/manager of Redstone Press, a recurring fixture at places like Field Maneuvers Festival & Sneaky Pete’s and with recent appearancess at Venue MOT, Le Sample (Paris), Fitzroy (Berlin) & Kaiku (Helsinki) Lewis is establishing himself as a regular in the UK & abroad underground club scene.
